Team GB's Jaydon Paddock Hosting Gymnastics Masterclass
Team GB tumbler Jaydon Paddock will be hosting a gymnastics masterclass at Wyndley Leisure Centre as part of our Big Open Weekend!
Jaydon – a gold medallist at both the 2019 and 2022 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships – will be on-hand to provide coaching support and advice to all aspiring tumblers.
Starting at 2pm, this free event will give young gymnasts from across the City the opportunity to work with a world class athlete to take into their gymnastic journey.
“I’m so excited for this event,” Jaydon said. “I’ve not been back to Wyndley Leisure Centre since I was a kid! I know it’s a real community centre and a lot of the staff are still there from the last time I went – so it’ll be great to catch-up.
“I truly believe that gymnastics is such an important sport for children to take-up when they’re young. It teaches balance and coordination – the fundamentals of any sport. So I hope that we can get lots of the young people involved and maybe even start a few on their gymnastics journey.”
The timing has never been better to get involved with gymnastics in Birmingham as the City hosts the World Trampolining Championships in November – and Jaydon believes the events’ legacy will be strong. He said, “What better way to inspire young people than by having an event of this magnitude right on your doorstep? The best Trampoline Gymnasts in the world will be here in Birmingham, so I’d urge all aspiring gymnasts to go along and feel inspired.”
Doreen Smith, Children Activities Coordinator at Wyndley Leisure Centre said: “We’re so happy that Jaydon has given up his time to inspire the next generation of tumblers at Wyndley.
“We know how much the local community benefit from masterclasses such as this one – so we’re really hoping to get as many little tumblers as possible through the doors on Saturday.”
