STEP 1
To make the spiced apple and cranberry compote, add the chopped apple with 30ml water to pan and cook gently until the apple has almost softened. Then add the cranberries, sugar and mixed spice and continue to cook until the fruit is soft, and the compote has thickened slightly.
This first step can be done in advance before making the porridge.
STEP 2
Place the porridge oats, almond milk and ground cinnamon in a pan, stir thoroughly and simmer gently for 5 minutes or until the porridge is to your desired consistency. Mix in the chia seeds if using.
Serve with the spiced apple and cranberry compote on the top. Then scatter with the almonds if using and enjoy!
