ParalympicGB's Harry Brown Came To Train At Horwich Leisure Centre
We were thrilled to host Harry Brown, ParalympicsGB Wheelchair Basketball player, as he prepared to represent ParalympicsGB in Paris this year!
Harry Brown started playing Wheelchair Basketball at the age of 8 after being scouted by a local group that run a sports club for children in wheelchairs, and the rest is history!
Harry says: "The reason I enjoy it so much is the sense of freedom. I grew up in a mainstream school and I was the only wheelchair user there, so playing Wheelchair Basketball gave me that release and sense of belonging in the team."
Harry explained: "I have multiple proud moments; we won the World Championships in 2018 and I've got two Bronze Medals to my name so far, so sporting-wise, they definitely make me proud."
Since speaking to Harry, ParalympicsGB came away from the 2024 Paris Paralympics with a Silver Medal, adding to his collection.
"I would recommend Wheelchair Basketball to anyone, whether you're able bodied or disabled, it's just such a high impact, high speed game, that anyone who plays it finds a reason to love it."
